The Jeweled Lady

A Vintage Spirit Reborn in Velvet & Moonlight

“The Jeweled Lady”

Some pieces arrive in my life quietly — a brooch found in a box at a yard sale, pearls tucked into a thrift‑store dish, rhinestones that once shimmered on someone’s night out long ago. I never know which ones will speak to me, only that certain treasures carry a hum… a little pulse of memory.

One evening, with the Shasta dusk settling blue against my windows, I laid these pieces on red velvet. I wasn’t trying to make anything. I was just listening. Letting the shapes fall where they wanted. And slowly, she appeared — a lady made of forgotten sparkle, rising out of the velvet like a spirit stepping forward.

Her gown curled in constellations of old jewelry. Her tiny dog trotted beside her, stitched from charms that once lived separate lives. Above her, a crescent moon watched — a small metal sliver that felt like it had been waiting for her all along.

She reminds me why vintage matters. Not because it’s old, but because it’s alive.

Every object carries a whisper of where it’s been. Every rescued piece holds a story that wants to be retold. In my home — and in BB’s Place — these stories gather, mingle, and find new shapes. They become art, memory, magic.

This jeweled lady was one of my first reimagined creations, and she still feels like a guardian of the quiet wonders I collect. A symbol of what BB’s Place is becoming — a place where forgotten beauty rises again, touched by mountain light and a little mystery.

Welcome to my blog. Welcome to the hidden stories of my vintage home. There are many more waiting to be found.
